What's up blues fans! This week I am featuring photos of rockin' Texas bluesman Lance Lopez. He's been called "a very exciting and intense Blues guitarist" by none other than the legendary Jeff Beck. That's just one of many accolades thrown his way by some big names in the music business. Lance was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and has been a pro musician since he was 14. Among others Lance has played and toured with Johnnie Taylor and Lucky Peterson. I have some photos of Lance playing with Lucky and I will post those at a later date.
In 1999 Lance won the Southeastern Regional Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar competition in New Orleans. I've seen Lance three times now and if like me you like your blues delivered with some 'oomph' then Lance is your man. The photos below are from Lance's Dec. 2, 2009 show at Terra Blues in New York. Simply put, Lance rocked the joint! I had the chance to briefly talk with Lance and found him to be quite personable. Next time he hits New York you can bet I'll be in the audience again. If you haven't already do yourselves a favor and catch this smokin' Texas Blues-Rock power trio in action.
