Madams Organ in Adams Morgan by Bluesman

(Washington DC) Madam's Organ restaurant and Bar , Where the beautiful people go to get ugly ! This is THEIR slogan not mine , and what a great slogan for such a great bar . Madam's Organ is located in Adam's Morgan , a 'burb of DC . My first impressions of this place was ... weird ... tacky ... a lot of fun . It's a great place to catch some great Blues , Alternative Country , Rock , and even a touch of Bluegrass from time to time .

Adam's Morgan has made great strides lately in competing with the upscale streets of Georgetown . Madam's Organ is not the only bar in town , but it's definitely the "happening" place to be , especially on weekends . This is when the HOT Blues bands come to share their Blues with you . Performers of note that will be gracing the halls of Miss Morgan's bar are Blues legend Bobby Parker on January 30th and Deb Callahan on January 9th . Shows start at 10PM , but staff at Madam's Organ would highly recommend coming in early if you want a table . There is always a full house here !

The second floor is called Big Daddy's Love Lounge & Pickup Joint . The crowd here appears to be a younger crowd . You can play darts and pool here , and Redheads get half off for Rolling Rock beer . If you've ever thought of changing your hair color , what better time than now ? Climb the stairs to the rooftop deck for a great view of the streets of Adams Morgan . Although it is FREEZING in DC this time of year , the rooftop is now open all year round . Watch the stairs though ... I have a tendency to trip down stairs , and I know that after a few Stella's , those odds of falling down the stairs drastically increase !

Madam's Organ made the "Top 25 Bars In America" list in May of 2000 , and Stuff magazine has raved about the place as well . It has been reported to be frequented by Royalty , as well as Jenna and Barbara Bush , daughters of President G.W. Bush . Anyone who knows the DC area can tell you how businesses in the area can be ... historic , quaint and small . This place is no exception , as you will find as you squeeeeeze your way onto the tiny dance floor and try to make your way across the room . This is all just a part of the DC area night life , and , all things considered , I would highly recommend Madam's Organ to anyone who wants to hear some good live Blues , or simply wants a fun night out in our nation's capital .
